David, would you have chosen S2000 2.2L if it were available in Aus?

David, would you have chosen S2000 2.2L if it were available in Aus?

Very likely as I'd be less inclined to give the 'unknown' Zed a shot. I would ideally like to do nothing to the car and be happy with it so even though I could get the 350Z to my liking, I'd rather get a car that was set up (or designed) that way from the factory.

2.2L S2000 seems to address a lot of the 'issues' I had with the S2000 (ie. more dispacement, bigger wheels, more balanced suspension, stronger clutch, sronger gearbox and stronger drivetrain). I still would have liked it with bigger brakes/calipers (ie. Brembos) and more like a 2.5L engine, but concidering that I was happy with the original S2000, I think that the 2.2L would have been a 'step forward' for me. Who knows, maybe they'll have it here in couple of years and then I might get another one again.

Meanwhile I am enjoying the Zed as it has a lot to offer that the S2000 did not. If I can make the front have a bit more grip then I'll be very happy with with .... won't be perfect, but then what car is? :-)

Hey DavidM,
I am also in the market for a 350Z in a couple of months... I was wondering how your front tyres are stacking up. A friend in New Zealand reckons the fronts may even last around a mere 2500kms before needimg replacement... Thats a shocking figure!
Figure would prob done well over that sort of mileage by now, im curious to see how your rubbers are holding!
Cheers!

I have around 2100km on the Zed now and the front tyres are looking just fine (ie. mostly new). I have a lightly heavier wear on the outside edge of the tyre because the ront pushes for me often. Though, the wear is still insignificant.

Though, I have heard about some 'tyre feathering' problems so it's recommened that you get the car alligned ASAP. I had my alligned about 500km ago and the front was way out as it had 6mm of toe-OUT on the front.

DavidM, could you please include me in your reply. Perhaps it might be prudent to send a private PM instead of a public post.
