DavidM, how's this for a suggestion. What you want is a convertible that handles as well as the Boxter but has more straight line go than the 350Z AND costs less than $70K.
Right? - Does that sound ideal?? OK, here's what to do.
Buy a used S2000 for around $50K. Take it to Centreline for a complete suspension package. Springs, adjustable shockers & swaybars. Put in the 4.44 final drive, a Motec ecu, one of Mark's single exhausts. Get a spare set of wheels with competition rubber. Braided brake lines, the best fluid & competition pads will be less than $500 from Race Brakes.
If you've still got a few thou left from your $70K after that and you still want more grunt some Toda cams will do the trick.

Or, an S with DMS coilovers, Whiteline front sway bar and cross brace, Bendix brake pads, Rick's 4.44 and Vortech SC. M3 bewares too
+ NOS --> McClaren beware.....only J/K......No NOS near my engine please.

hehe RedRover,
That sounds good, but couple things that I'm not that keen on:
- Buying a car that is more than 1 year old
- Putting 'much' money into mods as that money will never be returned (to me). The car you described would still sell for 'only' $50k.
Besides that, the car you described does sound pretty good. What I really want is a factory built S2000 with a 2.5L engine and the '04 suspension/wheels and new Brembo brakes :-) I know, I'm dreaming :-)
Put in the 4.44 final drive, a Motec ecu, one of Mark's single exhausts
It's not really worth it (ie. $4k minimum) for the extra 10kW that the above will gain. The 4.44 gears will make by far the most difference and are probably the best value/bang 'add on' for the S2000. Though, anything done to the engine is a waste of money for me. Even te GTP S2000 that David Wood had could 'only' manage around 195kW (at the crank) and that is with a non-legal straight through exhaust which netted 1/2 of the gains. Still, from inside the car the extra power was not felt.

I dont think the GTP S2000 is that great. I think the engineer in that team should be sacked. They should hire someone on this board instead.
I think their race result would have been different if they use
-Spoon engine
-spoon ecu/motec
-Injen intake
-spoon manifold
-Amuse Ti single exhaust
-spoon test pipe (no cat)
-upgraded clutch
-upgraded billet drivetrain....lighter and stronger
-J's 4.77
-Pfitzner's dogbox
And probably a few more things that are not on the tip of my tongues at this stage (probably more spoon or toda stuffs )

You can't just do everything you feel like in GTP. There are rules. Almost none of the things on your list is allowed. Professional race teams also tend to concentrate on things that make the car go faster around a race track and not what sounds more impressive to brand name junkies.

All of the mentioned names above has been shown to outperform other names (including Honda ) in their products with proven results.
Naishou, if you make a good product with proven results I would have put your name in that list tooo
Now the combination of all of them may gives different results....but I am sure that's what sponsorship $$$$ are for
Oh I remember now .....spoon thermostat, rad cap and fanswitch.
Edited: sorry typo....late night assignment
