I hope he recovers enough too return to Top Gear, but not quite enough to do another series of Brainiac.

The story emerging on this morning's UK Sky news is that there is evidence (from emails circulating in the Top Gear team in the weeks beforehand) that the Top Gear team were putting a lot of pressure on to achieve a British land speed record in the car.

This was despite the designer/builder of the car warning that to drive the car in a record attempt required a lot of prior experience. That is, it would be foolish to attempt a very high speed on your first few drives.

To attempt a speed in the vicinity of 500Km/Hr on your first drive was just crazy.
