If you replaced your worn tyres with the manufacturer's recommended OEM SO2's I have a question.

How much did your dealer charge you?

Thanks. Just wanting to know for when my first set of replacements come due.

From memory it was $297 each for the fronts and $337 each for the rears. This was through Bridgestone directly.

Looks like I need a set too. I checked mine out today and the rears are past their use by date (ok, so they are worn).

I just got 2 rears fitted (OEM S02) at Bob Jane (Melb).
Cost was $382 each fitted and balanced, which was higher than when I last checked.

Bridgestone have no stock of the fronts available for several weeks. I think they were $6 cheaper than the rears.
The price has gone up considerably as at 1 July, they are now just over $400 I'm told.

Bloody Yen is going up and up I guess.

must be due to demand and supply factor.

Are there anyone who uses other brand rather than S02s ?

I had Falken GRB's on 17" wheels. They ain't as good.

My dealer WANTED to charge me $1,200 each for the fronts and $1,300 each for the rears 18 months ago. This was ex-GST too so you can add another 10% for a total of $5,500 .

I ended up paying $310 front and $330 rear for a total of $1,280 fitted and balanced inc GST at Bridgestone direct, however, I was told this was a one-off special for me as an HSCC committee member and represented a 10% discount off regular pricing. I think Bridgestone may have been having me on though as I have heard others paying similar or slightly less.

I know the dealer price was correct as he showed me his computer screen - what he didn't realise though is that I saw his margin which was 50% meaning Honda Australia was selling them to him at half that price. I suspect Honda probably bought the tyres direct from Bridgestone Australia and had a similar margin (i.e. 100% markup) - this would explain the fourfold price difference.

P.S. What I probably shouldn't, but will, say is that during the fittinh the Bridgestone staff jacked up my car incorrectly and ended up buckling the base of my front guard. Lucky for me I spotted it whilst it was up on the jack - even then they were trying to deny responsibility, it cost them $350 in panel beater charges to get that put right.

Thanks to 2kturkey, I rang bridgestone Altonia and I was told to ring Donallan Tyres
Boxhill, and they quoted me oem S02's for the back $330. So anyone interested ask for Paul & Mark at Donallan on tel:03 98989591

I had a similar experience with dealers when trying to find a good price on rear OEM tires.

They quoted me around $1500 a piece.

I wonder if anyones has been wealthy or stupid enough to pay this much?

It sounds like some dealers are really doing a number on us. I will be going to Bob Jane or Bridgestone if these are exactly the same tyres (i.e. OEM.) and my dealer tries to overcharge me.
