After hosing the crap off the car with a pressure jet (wherever you can find one), consider using a wool mitten to rub the crap off. I have had pretty good results using wool mitten rather than a sponge.

Almost forgot the week that my car was getting picked up my brother took it down to carlovers at Narellan to clean it. He intended on using their hoses and his bucket and sponge as I usually do but there was an attendend there that was stopping people from doing it this way! It seems that they must have caught on to this and realised that it was taking away business.
Did anyone else try this yet? Any similar problems?

I went to a local high pressure water place in Dural. A serve yourself type place.
I think it was expensive. I'm not sure. Haven't got anything to compare it with. I put $6 worth of coins and had about 8mins worth of water.
I didn't use a bucket or sponge. You definently need to though. The car is still dirty. Just not *as* dirty as it was before.

why don't u just pay the $27.50 at crystal car wash or similar car washes, enjoy the 20 min sit down and relax with ur cup of coffee.
i generally only pay $10-$15 to get my car washed at the car wash place at Warringah Mall, saves me from doing it and i bet it works out cheaper coz i don't need to waste my time and materials in washing the thing.

i'm anal about scratches....
I use 2 sponges, 1 for the car, 1 for the tyres/wheels. I also use 2 chamoise 1 for the car body, the other for the bits inbetween bits (doors, bonnet, boot, fuel filler).
I also do the car in stages. Roof, bonnet, boot. Rinse. Left side, Right side. Rinse. Front, back. Rinse. Wheels. Rinse.
Then I dry the car in stages... similar to above without the rinsing.
I've too often seen one of those "professional car washers" drop the sponge onto the dirty ground (unknowingly picking up small rocks into the sponge) then rub these rocks into the duco making nice swirl marks all over the place.
But yeah, I won't even let my g/f wash my car....Not gonna let some schmuck do it.

I suggest you save your $30 and do it yourself with a bucket of water.
