Hi,

This is my first S2K and I've got all the fun options including Axle whip and Decel Buzz :) But considering the rest of the car I can live its little quirks! I am in Brisbane.

Axle whip - What do you mean by "Axle whip"? Can you describe this in more detail.

I assume that "Decel Buzz" means the buzzing clutch? Is that right?

Axle whip is the out of balance rear half shaft that you can feel at around 60Km/h sometimes. Apparently it is a very common issue that earlier S2000's get. Something to do with Dogey CV joints. There is a TSB from Honda on this board somewhere.

Decel Buzz is the noisy clutch thing.

I'll live with both until the clutch wears out and the car is off the road so I can take the 1/2 shafts to Driveline Services.

The consensus seems to be that if it wasn't fixed under warrenty then don't worry about it.

It's a 2001 model with 68K's on it. I paid $42 on the road from Highway Honda at Springwood.

I bought it to replace my Triumph Stag that got wiped out by someone running a stop sign on Stafford Rd.

 I've never experienced or heard of 'axle whip'. It can't be too common an issue.

As for the clutch buzz on deceleration, this can be cured by replacing the clutch with a later model one. I had mine done a couple of years ago and it has been perfect ever since. No sign of the 'buzz' returning and it makes the driving experience so much more enjoyable. :)

Hmmm... just found this TSB.

I haven't been able to find evidence of many people with the problem though.

I think it is called something else but I have seen quite a few posts here and on honda tech about vibrations and shudders around 35mph.

Mate that's a top buy. They were advertising that car for $49k to begin with, and they had it on the lot for ages, chopped it to 46, still didn't sell it, and the last i saw it had hit 43- a top buy indeed. You won't see them advertised again for that price for a while.

See ya round

That sounds like a good buy? Wonder what the condition is like. Anybody willing to check it out.....??? Possibily you would be able to negotiate on that as well.
