SoCal boy coming to Sydney
I will be arriving next Wednesday and will be there until the 14th. Any recommendations on what to do or see?
Thanks ...

That is a wide open question! Sydney is a fantastic city and there is far more to do here than you can fit in the time you have. Best to have a look at sites like ...

... and see what sort of things interest you. Then you can ask us specifics if you need to. Otherewise you will just get so many personal opinions you still won't have a clue!

Not a lot in the way of rollercoasters in Sydney anymore. But I'd love to go back to some of those huge SOCAL ones. The Xcelerator was awesome (I nearly had to hold on).
Sydney has many things similar in a way to SoCal (our seagulls are a lot smaller though). We have the Blue Mountians not too far away and plenty of beaches close by.
In Sydney -
Brideclimb (climb the Harbour Bridge),
go on a harbour cruise.
Taronga Zoo
Dinner up top of Sydney Tower (http://www.sydney-tower-restaurant.com)
Ghost tours - www.destinytours.com.au
Sydney Aquarium
Other than that go explore the city (opera house, museums, The Rocks etc) and shopping. The red Sydney Explorer bus is a good way to get around the city.
West -
Jenolan Caves
Blue Mountains and Scenic World (http://www.scenicworld.com.au/)
It gives Yosemite NP a run for its money
Bathurst/Hill End - gold mining towns (around the same time as Socals gold rush) but these are a little further out and may require to stay overnight nearby.
Northern -
Hunter Valley Wineries
I would suggest at least one day at a beach and the Blue Mountains, for the overall experience.

Oh you'll have to wait alright... it's a long flight from LA to Sydney.
Are you going anywhere else in Australia?

Is this a "meet the parents" trip?
If so i think you won't have time to go anewhere else but the already planned relo houses. Your gf is just pretending you have a say in where to go!
