Agree, the S2000 will continue to be a great car to own, however I have been impacted by the new 'demographic' of owners as my insurance premium has increased 70% over the past 2 years without a claim!

As Steve said, things to come..

Yes, mine too. In fact it doubled from one year to the next and when I rang the insurance company to ask why they were doubling my premium when I had never had an accident, they informed me that S2000s had been involved in a lot of accidents the previous year.

This is exactly the sort of thing that I was afraid of.

I'm guessing the SMH article is pointing towards the yellow AP1 that killed someone and severely injured himself in Warwick Farm. Gotta love the wild west, after all it's the highest mass population of Honda owners in the country.

Yes, like it or not, it's now official whether S2000 owners who bought their cars new or paid 50% of the original selling price will now be a HWP target and labelled "hoon". Gotta love the media for it.

What makes a cult car, will always compose a collective group of enthusiasts and degenerates. The degenerates will always outdo the enthusiasts from breaking the law to putting mods relevant to what the trend is flowing. With that, giving everyone a bad name while the enthusiasts will suffer the wrath of the minority's actions.

Apart from tall poppy syndrome, a percentile of racism and relevant kneejerking reactions, law enforcement always have a particular taste for Japanese imports and it's popular makes/models.

Everyone can sit on forums and cry all day long about getting a heavy handed treatment, ultimately the only way out is to sell out. You can't stop younger people who have been dreaming about owning one since it was released X amount of years ago, what you can do is however disassociate yourself with the make/model if it's causing so much grief over what you remember of it - the joy and smiles it bring when you fire it up and take it out for a drive.

As a S2000 owner for 7 years, putting all our differences aside, this is the fact that we all have been hating, will continue to hate and only stop hating when we part with our S2000 for some other joy in motoring or life.

I follow all the speed limits, and he is sitting right on my ass, which pisses me right off. We approach a set of lights, lights turn orange. I would have normally gone through. But I had just enough time, and I thought if I go through he will get me for that, and if I stop, and he hits me he will be at fault for following too close.
I had this happen to me last night; I didn't know it was a cop to start with. All I could see were these two headlights in my mirror. He was uncomfortably close and I was doing 2 or 3 km over the limit. After about five minutes he roars up the inside lane, I saw it was a cop, and then he was gone. I guess he was just in a hurry.

lants and i drive a very stock ( and proud of it ) black s2k.

we were going a little bit fast coming out of a service lane onto a highway, so hardly an act of hooning proportions and a cop pulled us over.

he told us we "Stand out like dogs balls"...

and followed it with "out for a fang are we?"

what a knob
