S2k Windscreen....please explain
Before I bought my S2k, I had to convince myself of some of the dubious design elements
1. wrap around treatment of rearlights
2. headlight washes
3. angle of the windscreen
I've got used to 1 & 2 but what is with the "volvo" angle windscreen?
1. it looks ugly
2. probably more prone to cracks as stones less likely to "bounce" off
Why have they done it?
Only reasons I can think of
1. strength as a roll bar
2. needed to accomodate roof mechanics
3. Honda just got it wrong!

The windshield frame and roll bars are fully integrated chassis components designed to protect cabin integrity in a rollover/collision. The angle of the windscreen was determined by computer analysis.
I have had one windscreen cracked (and replaced) after impact by a stone and the new windscreen copped a stone two weeks ago that has left a pock mark.
If you're worried about stone damage to your windscreen just drive slower ....................

There is an explination of this in the Dan Carney S2000 book. The winshield is at a steep angle to make the the top edge as far away from the driver as possible. This is supposed to give a more "open air" roadster feeling to the car.

One of the major design features of the S2000 is the 50:50 weight.
A major element of this design is the mounting of the engine. It is set way back behind the front wheels and is true Mid-Front design. This pushes the firewall back and hence the supporting member of the windscreen. Combined with Johnnyboy's suggestion about the top of the screen and you've got a steep windscreen.

Aus, 2k, johnyboy32 ... you guys could be right. I just thought it was a function over form thing for the purposes of safety. I do know that this is one good reason to leave the black tape on though .... for me at least.
