Default S2k security?

What are your thoughts on the general security of the s2k, myself owning a 99/00 model with absolutely no alarm and no secure lockup sometimes causes some sleepless nights.

Have you heard any stories of s2k's being stolen? What aftermarket alarms/trackers etc would you recommend installing?.

General security (engine immobiliser) should be enough to deter amateurs.

If they are pros and want it bad enough they'll drag it onto a flatbed and all the alarms in the world won't stop them.

You could try something like 'Lojack' satellite tracking .... that's if you want your car back once it's been stolen.

Personally I wouldn't own this car if I didn't have a lock-up garage for it. Soft-tops are so easy to slash.

I just leave my roof down and my glove box locked.

WHy put the roof up for someone to slash with a knife and take what they want?

I'd rather they attempt to take what they want, which is nothing since the glove box is locked.

If they are gonna take something take it. It saves them slashing the roof and saves me $3K in fixing it.

*This situation only applies when the car is being parked on the street.*
*Roof up when at home or when parking in a car park etc*

i use quiktrak with GPS monitoring. if the alarm is activated quiktrak call you to let you know that its been triggered, if your at a club and you dont hear the call, they call a nominated 2nd number.. if that person doesnt answer, they track the car via GPS, activate the immobiliser and call the security team out to retrieve the vehicle.

cost- $600 installed + $356 per annum monitoring fee

look on a crooks face when hes driving away only to feel the car engine remotely shut down and cops on his trail..

PRICELESS!

hmm quiktrak sounds cheap but is there a excess you need to pay if they send people out to get the car?
