There's only one of me, but I upgraded my system to a Sony ABP system in 2000.
I have an adaptor so I still have dash controls, a 10 Disc MP3 compatible changer, amp under the passenger seat, 6.5" Sony speakers in the door tweeters on the dash and 4" coaxials in the rear.
It's not a decibel contest winner but is a drastic improvement on the stock system.
You can see some details here:

It's not up to date. It doesn't mention the newer changer and it still talks about the long gone Neo 35 but you get the idea.

Why wouldn't it work in Australia?
If you buy a DCI that is compatible with your head unit it will work.
I originally used Pinky's Audio Controller, which turned out to be a PAC SW-X at 3 times the prices.
I then bought the ill fated S2kman DCU. It is a programmable device that had the jack plug to control many Sony head units of the time. I'm still using it and it's very good.
I also have a DCI but haven't got around to installing it. I should though as I would appreciate the speed dependant volume control.
BTW, if you are looking to order one I think you can do international orders straight to Modifry. Lucid charges $USD20 to ship a component about the size of a box of matches.

Have you looked at DJQube's units Aus? I think his are similar but he has also developed a toggle switch in place of the mode button allowing more control options such as back, search etc.
