Hey everyone,

I recently had my roof changed to a Robbins glass rear window item by a reputable upholsterer in Melbourne...It seems that they have done something wrong with the install...my roof goes up and down very slowly...it feels like the motors are under enormous strain!

Does anyone know what this could be as I'm taking the car back on Monday to have it looked at again.

On another note, did anyone end up with creases around the glass part? If so, how long did they take to smoothen out?

Cheers
just wondering how you went with the installer
last monday? Cheers.

Apparently they think it's the motor now...

Has anyone ever heard of the motors (for the roof) failing? $460 for the part + labour...

What a F***ing joke.

good luck with it though.. i did my top myself.. it was a tough job getting the thing to clip in coz it was so tight, i left it out to bake in the sun a few days and she was all loosened up.. but never had any issues with the motor going slow up or down... hope these guys who put it on for you isn't takin you for a ride..

Sounds a bit odd to me I have to say. Your old
top worked fine and then after the install the new one
didn't! Hell of a coincidence if the motors decided to
start dying at exactly the same time. I would be getting checked
out by someone else before doing anything.
Good luck.

If you need a 2nd hand motor, pm fireball. We installed his new roof and he still has the old motor with the old roof.

Like the other said, I think you have a case against these people. I've never heard of motor failure either. Prob best to ask them how they confirm that the motor has failed.

Yeh this is really annoying! Well all the joints for the roof are sealed right?

We tried lubing everything up and it looks fine, it's just at left and right aren't coming up or going down at the same time...

They are going to strip it down tomorrow and have a look at the wires connecting to the motors...The car also has a brand new battery, we tried moving the roof with some revs too...still no use...this is very frustrating...

What's worse is they told me to go to a dealership, and they had even less of an idea and thought that my roof speed was "normal"...maybe they haven't seen a s2k for a LONG TIME!
