Robbins aftermarket roof problems
Hey everyone,
I recently had my roof changed to a Robbins glass rear window item by a reputable upholsterer in Melbourne...It seems that they have done something wrong with the install...my roof goes up and down very slowly...it feels like the motors are under enormous strain!
Does anyone know what this could be as I'm taking the car back on Monday to have it looked at again.
On another note, did anyone end up with creases around the glass part? If so, how long did they take to smoothen out?
Cheers

sorry, are you referring to the creases in the roof or the roof going up and down slowly...by slowly, I'm talking about 20-30 seconds either way

Is there any rubbing noise or noise from a strained motor?
20-30 sec is fairly excessive for a car that claimes 6sec to put roof down and 6 secs to get to 100kph I think there is more than just a new roof. Try to leave teh car in the sun with the roof up and see if there is any improvement Taxxed.

20-30 secs something is wrong!! I have done 4 roof conversions, none have that.
Creases get less and less are you get familiar with how to do it, slight creases smooth out in the sun, but it is possible to have none straight away.

I was hoping you would be able to help, unfortunately I didn't install it myself so I have no idea what they did nor do I know how they did it!
The thing was it wasn't 30 seconds before they touched it, it was still very quick...What do you think could be jamming the roof?
There aren't any weird sounds at all...

Taaxed I think it would have to do with the straps that are retro-fitted to the existing frame that come with the robbins top. There should be nothing else that jams, or hinders the opening mechanism.

My Robbins Top was very tight for a while but was never slow. However I did grease the teeth of the mechanism on the install.Maybe some rubbish got caught in the mechanism.Lots of luck mate.
