Heya all,

I just got back from my VERY long, 6000kms road trip. And what a trip it was. Melbourne to Sydney, on Boxing day was a somber occasion. First of all, 12 police patrols on the 850km stretch. Wow... never seen so many police cars on the Hume. Then get to Sydney, and it's burning like hell Was driving thru a cloud of brown smog for over an hour. Sydney was fun, except for the cloud of smoke that covered it the entire time I was there. Sorry to all the Sydney HSCC members for not calling and catching up, was really busy showing my friends around and stuff... hardly got time to do my "own" thing.

2nd of Jan went up to the Gold Coast. That was not that much fun either, it was over 40 on the day and the wind was like a boiling whip! The car felt really slow and sluggish. Tyre temps went from 34 cold to 48 hot. We were diverted to via Casino due to the fires in Byron Bay area and somehow we lost the "main pack" of cars and ended up on this gorgeous twisty road thought the mountains past Nimbin(?). That drive was AMAZING!!! 130kms of hairpins. Yeeeehhhhaaaa! The extra hour or so that it took to get thru that was definetly worth it!

Gold Coast was FUN! For those of you who are into their golf, you HAVE to go to Royal Pines. What an awesome place!!! Had a game on the East course (where the Women's Masters is held) and it's such a nice course. Wow. And the service is really good. Our golf bags were waiting at the buggy when we got to the club house. Then the carts have a sattelite tracking map which shows distances, tips from Wayne Grady, etc. So cool!!! Anyway, it's bloody nice!

Went to Brisbane twice as well... thanx to DHESS for taking us to Mt. Glourious (? is that right?). o Nice twisty climb and an even nicer descent. Sorry Muz, ran out of time there too... it was all such a mad rush!

Feels good to be home tho! 6000kms, over 40 hiway patrols, no fines, and a car that didn't miss a beat for a single km! Love it! Now I am gonna go and collapse and get some sleep ... 2100kms in 2 days is way too much!

Royal Pines is nice but there are better courses than that on the Gold Coast.

It was so damn hot playing in that period. Unbelievable! This cuold be the hottest summer we've had. Not conducive to golfing at all

Unlike cricket, in golf I can reliably score a century. In fact, I almost always end up top scorer

In that case, how many golf balls did you lose?
