Default Rear ended...

What a great start to a Sunday morning.

Well, less than 5mins from my house, I was sitting at a set of traffic lights waiting patiently for them to turn green.... BANG..

wtf.

(photo taken a few km's up the road..)

How does one rear end someone on a quiet road, when there's no traffic around? HOW THE HELL DOES SUCH A THING HAPPEN!#%!!

From what I can tell the damage is as follows:
- both rear light brackets broken
- rear bar bent.. duh
- rear bar impact protection whatsit bent... duh
- bootlid bent down

and for the thing that really shits me
- drivers rear quater bent and folded slightly

I've notified my insurance company, do I ring the police too?

What the hell guys, seriously, just what the hell... *sigh*

Sorry to hear.

It's always the case, some cheap pos hits your car and comes away with little or no damage.

What did the other driver have to say?

"I'm so sorry, I don't know what happened"

I'm glad we're not allowed to carry concealed weapons in Australia.

Sorry to hear/see your damage. You'll be upset for a few days. It's particularly annoying when it's so obviously not your fault. These things are thrust upon us - as that famous American bumper sticker used to say "Shit happens".

Fortunately - going by the photos - it's not toooo bad. Clearly, it could have been a lot worse. I had a similar incident a couple of years ago - a really old beat-up Toyota Corona shunted my S2000 from behind. Damaged the rear bumper section, warped the bit around the tow hook and added a few scratches. As far as I could see there wasn't a mark on the Toyota.

Do I inform the police?

I just called them and they asked if any cars were towed, any injuries, anyone die... etc...

I said no.

They said, no need.

What do I do?

So you have their details and they have yours?

Ifso, start looking at getting quotes for the repair.

Yeah, I've got all the details.

I'm with Shannons too, so I have my own choice of repairer, and my family has dealt with this one panel beater for as long as I can remember, so he will be the one doing the repairs.

I don't have time for this. But I guess no one does. Shit happens aye.

Wrong place, wrong time.

It seems panel beaters always require an extended amount of time to peform their work.

It truly is nothing more then a major pain in the rear.

One if those things life would be better of with out.
