Then you, my friend, are a more generous soul than I.
If someone enters a deal, they MUST be thinking they'll get benefit out of it. Ipso facto, if a dealer agrees to sell you a car, the dealer MUST be thinking he will get benefit out of it.
Any dealer is entitled to bargain with you. But I won't be giving my hanky to any salesman who thinks he can shed a tear because he's only made $1k on a new car sale and not $3k.
Fisty's money is best in Fisty's pocket, thanks very much.

Fisty, don't be astonished that the dealer can't tell me if it's the new 2004 - I'm sure they can
I've asked them (via email) to confirm that it has the features listed here: http://www.honda.com.au/showroom/s2000/=wh.../what's+new.htm. I must admit I merely confirmed that it was a 2004, but didn't ask whether it was a "new" 2004. I'll get the answer when they open tomorrow. If it's not the new model I won't go ahead.
Their initial offer was $70,559, I offered $69,500, the broker came back and said they would do it for $70,000 even. I kinda wish I'd pushed for another $10 (at least), just to see the price as $69,xxx . Keep in mind I'm doing this thru a broker, who supposedly has already done some haggling. And I'd already gotten feedback from this forum that anything under $75K is gravy, and I assume that figure did not include rego and stamp duty!
If I walk away from every offer the dealer makes, I'll never buy. At some point you have to accept the (final) offer. Could I have gotten a better deal? Maybe...who knows??? I'm not a great negotiator/haggler.
So, again, is $70K a good price for a new 2004, assuming the 2004 upgrades, including ALL on road costs and stamp duty?
Thanks for all the responses.
P.S.: Fisty, you owe me a lollipop

I thought 70k drive away no more to pay would be an awesome price right?
5k off retail, not including dealer delivery as such...
Does that include luxury tax as well?

This price includes all options as specified and on road costs, including dealer and government charges, GST and registration costs. Luxury Car Tax is also included. Most printed advertising excludes stamp duty, registration and dealer delivery charges. In addition, dealers often advertise prices only available to fleet buyers.
When you buy a new car, you can still have it serviced at any dealership you choose starting from the very first service. The source of the car has no effect whatsoever - including warranty.
Delivery of your car to your home or office is free for metro area addresses, but you may pick it up from the dealership instead if you want.
At first I didn't understand the underlined bit, but now I understand he was just describing "typical" pricing, so I would make an apples to apples comparison.
The broker has stated all I have to add is insurance. I'll also need to add any aftermarket mods (eg. floor mats, window tinting, paint/leather treatment, etc.), but that would be the case with any car. However, a second-hand car might have more of these extra bits included.
Perhaps I should have pushed further to get the price below $70K, but it still seems like a good deal to me.

Could you have gotten a better deal? Maybe.
Is $70k for the new model s2k a good deal? Yes.
Sounds to me like the classic negotiation situation. Two people sign a contract. Then the buyer turns to the vendor and says "you know, I would have paid more". The vendor replies "you know, I would have sold for less".
