Price for '04 S2000
Hi,
What would be a good price on a new '04 S2000? Stock standard, no additional options. I know I can get the recommended price from the Honda website, but am curious what the actual price dealers are charging.
Alternatively, if you have an '04 (or know someone who does), and are willing to share what you paid, that would be useful.

I haven't enquired lately about S2000 prices, but the RRP on-road should be around the $81k mark. With a bit of haggling at a dealer you should be able to get one without options for around the $74k mark O/R (maybe even a little less).

i believe the rrp is $72995, then u gotta add stamp duty, rego, etc.
i remember when i got mine, i had the oem body kit and tint and it came to $76k, but that was for my current one. my first one i only paid $72k, then i had an accident and the insirance company were kind enough to buy me a new one

Really? So you're knocking 7 grand off the price?

How would you approach the dealership with the whole.. I only want to pay 73 grand thingo... any tips?
RRP on the Honda website does say 75 grand though... and that's where you'd start off with negotiations right?

The Honda website quotes prices before on-road costs. I believe the RRP is $74,995 + ORC (stamps, rego, delivery etc).
In terms of approaching a dealership I'd just go in there and tell them exactly what you want (ie new Silver/Red S2000) and exactly what you want to pay (within reason). What's the worst they can do - say no??

Alister is right. Im of the belief that an offer is just that, not an obligation, not an ultimatum, just a proposal, but unfortunately some choose to take it personally and get offended
Every now and then I spot an S2000 in the paper that sounds like a good buy so I contact them and make an offer of what I'd be willing to buy it for. Its pretty common for people to get pissed at this (and I can understand if they are frustrated) but Im not trying to insult them, just enquiring to see if I can offer them the right deal. Some people aren't just after the maximum $$$ that would take weeks to settle etc but Im getting off topic sorry
My point is, always be up front, reasonable and understanding but dont buy into their sales talk and bs about how the profit margin is so low etc. because that doesn't change what you want to pay for the car.
p.s. Be careful about the prices that you pay for options too because you can really take a hit there. For a starter most people here will advise that you stay away from the side strakes because they are fitted poorly and leave a nasty hole.
