Some work? You mean like adding a set of pedals

Back on a serious note, I bought a new Suzuki Sierra FWD back in 1985. It had a 1 litre 4 cylinder and the only reason I bought it was because it was the cheapest convertible I could buy at $5,990. The only negative was that it took about 5 minutes to put the roof off compared with 5 secs for the S2000.

Well, that wasn't actually the only negative.

This thing had "Mighty Boy"level performance. 0-100 km/h in around a minute and a half (seriously ) and it maxed out at 105kmh on the level (or 110kmh with a steep downhill ).

It was definitely the slowest set of wheels I have ever owned but still a lot of fun to drive - it was also brilliant off road in slow speed rough conditions too.

If my experience of HSCC drives is anything to go by you'll be half way there and waving at the rest of the group as they head home at about warp 5

Not quite
I went from the Daihatsu to a Sigma (absolute shitbox) than a couple of Preludes first before I sort of ventured down the line of throwing away a fortune on cars....

I've ordered the 2000, 2001 and 2002 PCOTY videos and the '00 and '01 have finally arrived. I've watched the 2000 PCOTY video and they have a very odd launching technique from what I can see of the fottage ... not sure if they're showing the right thing but they often show a car with the timing-device mouted on it doing a take-off when talking about it's acceleration times. Anyway, it looks like they take off as you or I would take off the lights in everyday traffic - they just take off with minimal revs and then floor it. If that is the case then it'll explain their acceleration times as it's possible to get as low as 8.31 for the 0-100hph time. Still, if they make a few attempts then then should have got to mid 7s as it's doable with a 'street launch'.

Though, if that is the case then look at these numbers and they're incredible concidering that they were doing 'street launches' ... in particluar the Boxster S:
------------------------------
911 GT3 5.00/13.07
WRX Sti 5.66/14.00
BMW M5 6.00/14.21
Boxster S 6.08/14.25
------------------------------

Not only that, but I would have though that the slow cars would be even slower .... still, interesting thing to see concidering that in the 2001 PCOTY video they do seem to really launch the cars from high-revs and leave a lot of smoke and rubber on the track.

ps. The 2001 PCOTY video is pretty good watch but the 2000 one is not ... it's mostly footage of the jurnos talking about the cars and even when they're in the car the camera seems to be pointed on them instead of on the road!!
