They were around $6.5k new or so as an option.

I see one for sale on OZHonda for $4k.

How much are they worth these days, H/T only for easy's sake. So no hardware?

for 4k just get the mugen FRP hardtop
they are around that bracket as well

i've been the OEM HT low as 2k once

 

I believe they were a $7k option when they first came out and eventually became a $9k special order from Japan.

They are worth what some one is willing to pay for one.

But I still haven't heard a better price than I got by being patient and then showing up with cash in hand.

 

Pretty much spot on.

Mine cost $6K and a 1 year wait, ordered in 2000 when it was still in concept phase. Delivered with the car from Tochigi in 2001, upside is I got the last of the first generation true S2000s.

 

damn $2000, the lowest ive seen went for $2500 a few years back but i didnt have the $$$. Now im doing an AusS2000 and be patient and hope one comes up around this price again lol.

$4000 i'd rather get the Mugen FRP one.

also note, hardtops is AU are rare, because of the price when new, and owners wanted to enjoy the car as a convertible.

lastly, i dont see the hardtop being a "wear and tear" item, so i wouldnt expect too much of a discount. i certainly wouldnt sell at a significant discount.

like said above, the value of the hardtop is what the buying is will to pay and what the seller is willing to let go at.

yes for the 4k mark, its easy to say "just get the mugen", yes they are both hardtops, but the designs are unique in themselves. just because one is designed and sold by a tuner and the other is not, does not mean the mugen is 'better' than the one from Honda.

some people hate the design of the mugen, and some hate the design of the oem. who cares. its what someone want and know what they want.

 

I said I'd never buy a hardtop because it is a lot of money to spend to stop your car being a convertible.

I love driving with the car open but when you get those extended period of rain it is so much more pleasant and safe to drive with a hardtop with the large glass window.

And then I didn't spend that much money either.

I like the OEM. It's light, has defroster, doesn't need mucking around with custom windows and all that

 

OEM is HT is not that light.

 

If you buy a genuine mugen, its lighter again, and theres no "mucking around with the windows etc" and it uses the same fitting kit as OEM....
