Default No Oil!

Hey guys,

Anyone had any problems with having no Engine oil with 3000km on the clock???
I had a 1000km service few months ago, and I just checked my Engine Oil today, and there was basically nothing in it... no leaks or drips on the floor...
Where did 4ltrs of Engine Oil go to...???

Hi Es-nisen,

First of all. Is your engine damaged?

If it is it sounds like a #4cylinder failure. Gary on this board is one of the few people who have suffered this failure. I have had a similar failure as well but on #2.

Most #4 cylinder failures are characterised by a rapid, unexplained loss of oil.

Thanks for the reply Dominik.

Don't think the Engine is damaged, but I noticed the engine was making excessive noise at the time...that's why I checked the dip-stick... and guess what, No Engine oil!!!

I havn't pushed the car, since it's still new, but the Honda Mechanic said, this usually happens if you over rev the car too much !?!?!? Anyway I am doing an Oil Consumption test now... let's see what the result is...

Pardon the language, but the Honda mechanic is full of shit.

There is no way in hell a healthy engine can use 4 Litres of oil in 2000km. No matter how high it has been revved. Over 10000km maybe.
They will try to blame anything and everything on the way you drive.

As far as I know F20C is known to eat-up oil when it is new. But not 4 litres. I'm close to 10k kms....and I have since (1k), top up about 1.5 litres. And I drive her the way it should be driven. 'VTEC everytime she comes to a stop'. (that's after the break in period though)

if you over rev the car too much !?!?!?

They are nuts. My guess is probably during your 1000kms service, someone emptied the oil and forgot to fill her up fully. Did you check the level upon taking delivery and after service?

Incidents where the car loses all its oil early in life are all too common. I can remember reading about this several times on this site and the end result is always catastrophic engine failure. Sadly I think dhess is right and you are going to have a fight on your hands for a new engine. Take it to Honda immediately and demand some action.

Hi toms2k,

Yeah, I did check the Oil level before and after the service... The Oil Level was high on both occasions...
I'm getting an Oil Consumption Test now (drive it for 1000kms and come back), but I got a feeling that the Cylinders are damaged (as mentioned by Dominik)... 4Ltrs of Oil is a lot for a car that hasn't even done 5000km!!!
If the engine is damaged, Honda better replace it...

When you say 'no oil' are you sure, or is it just not showing on the dip stick?

The dip stick only shows oil if it is over 3L and each X represents 250ml up to 4 litre. You can still have up to 2.8 or so litres even if there is no oil even on the bottom of the dipstick.

Either way, jump on it now.

Thanks for the info Aus2000...didn't know that... But when I checked the Dip-Stick the Oil level was well below the "L" indicator... (the oil level was about 3mm on the dip stick)...
