largest being a 1mm thin, 2 to 3mm long stone chip that has gone to the metal

is touch up paint the way to go here? any recommendation as to what/where to buy and application techniques...

cut and polish

you'll probably be able to tell the difference between touch up paint and your original paint

a good detail might also help make some of the stone chips disappear

i beleive on the passenger side door there will be a paint code .

Go to any honda dealership and quote the number for a little bottle of touch up paint .

It retails for about $19.00 .

Have a couple of practise swipes before applying , as it can be tricky to apply .
If you have a female handy , ask them to do it , as they have had plently of practice painting their nails .

15ml. NFR Honda Touch-Up Paint from Honda dealer...$19.80 (GST inc)

Item code on bottle: 08C53-TR510

Local dealer ordered it in for me and had it in 2 days (not all carry this one)

Just got a new one myself and haven't even opened it yet but when you do open it make sure is well sealed again after use..dries out very quickly once opened.

Comes with a brush applicator but for deep chips, the best way is to keep dabbing and filling the chip with the paint on a match head or such.

Last time I used it was disappointed in the colour match...looked too dark...possibly because the original has a clear coat.
Hope that helps

Yes I have some touch up paint on my car with the stock color code and its pretty stupid how much darker it is. i suggest not getting the honda nfr color coded one it stands out like a sore thumb. My friend has a different red that is a quite bit closer to the red we have, i'll try and get the name.

I have a bare metal chip on my roof (think lancer not S2k) that has a rusty look to it and the smallest bubbles just around it. Any tips on a DIY fix or do I need to get it rubbed back and fish oiled now

just try scratching the bubbles off with ur finger nail and put some touch up paint onit. it's the dodgy'st fix in the world but it'd probably work. hopefully rust wont creep through.

Try to scrape the bubbles back so the surface is sound.
Hit it with some rust converter avalable at most hardware stores,
following the instructions and then hit it with the touch up paint.
If it's a solid colour you can build up the thickness in a few steps
then cut it back with 1000 wet and dry and then polish with some
cutting type polish.

My be worthwhile having a Panel Beater do the whole bonnet.
This way they can match the paint.

usually a full panel spray comes in under under $200.

Expensive for just chips yes. Guess it depnds on the extent of the chips.
