Need New Back Tyres. Any Recommendations?
Bought my car as demo. It had done 3000km. I have done another 6000km, and now at 9000km I was told I need new back tyres soon. I might get another 3-4000km. No, and I do not drive my car hard, the back tyres were quite worn when I purchased the car. The front tyres still have plenty of life in it. Now whats the recommendation, do I need to replace it with bridgesone Potenza's S02 or can I have another brand of tyre for the back? If I need to use bridgestones then does anyone know where I can get a good price in Melbourne for the Potenza s02.

The S2000's S02's are designed specifically for it. You could probably use another tyre but they are definitely the safer bet.
If you're a HSCC member you should be able to get a good price directly from Bridgestone. Check your newsletter.

The Bridgestone deal was through Bridgestone NSW for NSW HSCC members. However it might be worth giving Bridgestone a call anyway.
if you stick with the S02's make sure they are the W rated tyres, not the Z rated ones which are a much harder compound and take longer to work properly!
There are some drivers running Yokohama or Falken tyres, have a look in the Tyre forum and see what's on offer from a users perspective.

I had Falken GRB's on my 17" wheels and thought them to be very good. They were only $290 fitted for wider, lower profile tyre to fit the larger wheels so I'd expect ones for the stock wheels to be even less.
That said, now that I have the original S02's back on and have done two hard runs on them I now think the S02's are superior. In fact I think the reason I was so confident on them last weekend is because I was used to driving on the less capable Falkens.

Pery, who did you speak with at Bridgestone - our local contact is via the Altona warehouse. New SO2s can cost as little as $1,300 a set fitted and balanced. I suggest you go with them. PM me.

Aus,
One of the reasons my car was taily over the weekend was the Z rated S02's not warming up. It is very noticeable compared to the W rated, softer compound ones. The other reason was I wasn't that smooth in the corners until half way down the Putty when I relaxed a bit!
