Default Mystery LED under Center Console

Hey guys,

My car doesn't currently have any kinds of alarms but before when i got home from uni i was bored so i decided to pull up the centre console.

at the moment I have next to the H/L washer button just a black plastic cover with a little hole in it.

after pulling up the center console i found this red led attached to a fairly thick set of wires wrapped in electrical tape, the wires ran along the drivers side towards the head unit and then dissapeared.

I've since put the led i found and its a perfect fit for the little hole in the fake button cover.

Any ideas as to what this led is connected to?

I have pictured but i'm trying to get them off my phone at the moment but its not happening for me...

could be the secret NOS button bro

most likely its left over from the previous alarm installation .

Check under the hood for any signs of a mounting of an aftermarket alarm .

When i got my alarm installed, the tech guy pulled up my center console as well to put in some wiring and the microwave sensor .

The alarm speaker would be under the hood, most likely on the driver's side near where the suspension tower is. The actual alarm may have once been installed behind the driver's seat in the back plastic panel.

I think it's most unlikely that there was a previous alarm installed. Why take out something that would add to the selling price?

Although I couldn't find anything just now with a quick search I'm sure there was some discussion in the very early days of this forum about just what the blank button could be used for. Perhaps some of the old hands may remember?

If it was an expensive alarm or a tracker alarm (worth up to $2000) then the previous owner may have removed it to put it in his/her new car.

Definitely an alarm.

Considering that the switch that is there (headlight washer) is more than useless I suggest replacing the panel with the USDM coin slot. Very convenient.

so the guy just left the led and some wires in the car? Is there an easy way to make the led look like its part of an alarm system by flashing etc?
