BTW I've seen a totally standard GT3 on "R" tyres do a 1:20 at sandown. If any of you know that track you'd appreciate what a good car they must be. Somehow, and with all due respect to BMW, I just can't imagine a CSL doing that.
Looks like open class in the Porsche club in NSW might allow slicks on unmodified road cars. Waiting to hear back from some people.

I wonder what members of the Porsche Club of NSW get around Eastern Creek in their GT3s?
GT3 'Porsche Cup' cars are in 1:36s ... though, they do run on slicks and are good 200kg lighter than the above-mentioned GT3.

If I'm not mistaken, I think only the cars in the S1 and S2 classes are stock and on road-rubber.
The best comparison I can find is the MGF Trophy cars that do exactly what I managed in a stock S2000 at Wakefield, and 1:56 to 1:57 at Eastern Creek. It seems reasonable to expect that I might therefore be able to get an S2000 around Eastern Creek in 1:56 to 1:57 especially given its power and high speed handling advantage over an MGF.
I think the more 'open' tracks suit much more the higher horsepower cars. For instance a 255kW HSV is slower than an S2000 at Winton by about 1 sec, but at the Island it is quicker by 1 - 1.5sec. So you would think that a gap between an M3 and S2000 would be greater at a track like Eastern Creek .... at the Island the M3 is about 4secs quicker than the S2000.
S0, you could very well be right about 1:56 - 1:57 being possible in the S2000 at the Creek, but just going by Phillip Island times, you'd expect there to be 4sec difference between the S2000 and an M3. So I'd expect the S2000 time to be around 1:59, or the M3 time around 1:53. Still, you'd figure someone like David Brabham would be able to extract (close to) the best from the car.

If it was Peter Kelly (relatively young guy, slim build, dark hair) then it would have been on Dunlop Formula Rs but it's also got some major engine and suspension mods.
