If they are not Mugen I would be quite interested to find out what they are! Are CF exhausts much better than the stock - I am guessing they would be much lighter?
However the latest update is that I have been in discussions with the insurance company and it seems that they have done a complete 360 and are willing to give me insurance based on that the modification consists of only the "tip" or just the muffler part, and therefore is not considered as a performance enhancement.
This change was based on that I was asking questions as to what is considered a modification - ie if you were to replace other parts of a car with non-genuine but equivelently performing parts then where do you draw the line in terms of what is a modification and what is just an alternative part...
So at this stage it looks like I will not need to replace the exhausts. Thanks very much to everyone who contacted me!

Good to hear you don't have to get rid of them.
CF mufflers are good because they are light and have good thermal insulation. The problem with badly made CF mufflers is that the inner pipe and caps expand (as steel does), but the CF doesn't. So there can be stress between them and this can cause the CF to crack. Good CF mufflers however are designed with tolerance for this difference in expansion and shouldn't be a problem.
Oh, and they look shit hot!

Thanks again guys! Thanks Aus2000 for the info on CF.
Just to let you know, the insurance company I decided to go with were Cover More - Royal & Sun Alliance. They are so much cheaper than Shannons - It seems I'm saving $400 on the premium and $1750 on what was a ridiculous excess!
