Default leaking door seals

ok, the past 4 months, whenever it rains, not even hard, just constant. i have had a recurring leak- drip, drip, that comes thru the driver and passenger door windows just where the join is when the roof separates along the rubber seal, if u follow me. now the car is about 3.5 years old and the problem has only surfaced receently- past 4 months. i took it to the honda mechanic, he ran a light hose over it and it did indeed leak, he never encountered any and said that he will order a new rubber seal, but the basic design means that it will undoubtedly re-occur.
anyone else suffer this problem

You should try some of the shin-etsu or similar silicon grease on it. Best if you do this as a matter of maintenance but try it anyway. It should allow the joins to sit together properly and seal better.

but if i grease it up then ill have exposed grease on the door seals when my roof is down and this is susceptile to picking up flying debriss and stuff, plus if i accidently rub against it ill get dirty, surely there is a better way

I used to use a light dose of silicone spray (spray onto a cloth and use that), the kind of thing you can buy in KMart for under $10. It's not greasy or sticky and it soaks in so it prevents the rubber from drying and cracking but won't attract dirt.

H9k I thought that the 303 proectant was just for the roof itself not the rubber seals, can you use it for both huh?

Hey Stan didn't you get caught in that rain on the trip back from the Hunter? I had to ring ahead to get a definite forecast and ended up pulling over and removing my roof cover so I didn't get stuck in traffic with a snorkel in my mouth

BTW I'll have to take the credit for that weather, I sat up till 1am the night before detailing my car

Hey Austlue, all I got were a couple of drops coming down through North Sydney...an indecisive moment before the harbour bridge...will I or wont I stop and 'up' the roof....powered on and made it to the Southern Shire...JUST
I always check the SYD weather radar now

I seen a Suzuka/nurbugring blue on the road for the first time the other day and I was pleasantly surprised at just how nice it looked. I doubt that I'll be that lucky though Stan but Im keeping positive thanks buddy
