Default Key fob not working, car is immobilsed

HI,

Briefly: the car battery is about 2 months old. I drove it today for 45 mins or so, all good.

When I went to lock it, the fob wasn't working, so I assumed it was the fob battery (the fob and battery was about 7 years old!). I replaced the battery and went to start it again 15 mins later. The fob still did not work, but since the car was still unlocked, I just tried to start it. The car is completely dead, no dashboard activity.

I think the immobiliser is stuck in engaged mode.

Any ideas 1) how to disable the immobiliser and 2) how to reprogram the fob so it locks/unlocks my car again?

Thanks,
Scott

Does your car have an alarm system fitted? If not all the remote does is lock and unlock the doors, it doesn't engage or disengage the immobiliser. There's a chip in the key itself which the car reads when you insert it into the ignition which disengages the immobiliser. Can't help any more than that though..

And also, the battery in my remote is 11 and a half years old and its still all good

Hi,

The S2K is a 2005 model with original equipment. Ok, well, the fob wasn't working, I replaced the fob battery, it didn't fix the issue, and now the key doesn't disable the immobiliser and the car is completely dead. I'm sure it's not a flat battery since I drove it not 15 mins earlier.

Thanks,
Scott

Are the electrics working fine (map lights, boot light, etc)? Any possibility of a bad connection between battery and alternator when the new battery was put in?

Being an 05 Im not sure but with the Ap1 you could re program the fobs back in. I don't have an AP2 workshop manual, But i guess there would be a good start?

Try turning on the ignition switch and pressing unlock 10 times in quick succession. You often have to do this on alarm systems that use rolling codes so it works out where in the rolling code sequence the keyfob is at.
