i was actually surprised to see my premium drop from $2375 to $2054 this year, went from rating 4 to rating 3, never made a claim before.

This was with Just Cars btw.

When giving the insurance companies your information for a quote... they usually ask...
1. Have you ever had any claims in the past?
2. Have you ever had your license canceled or suspended?

This what usually makes the price vary heaps!

By the the way... does anyone know if insurance companies actually do checks on your driving records above?

They only check it when u make a claim, usually big claims. they'll ask u to go to RTA to get a driving record, if it doesnt match to wat u stated when entering the insurance contract, they can refuse payout.

As Gexer said, they don't check when you're paying them. They only check when they are considering paying you.

So would you need to tell them if you got a speeding fine during the year?

$900 excess

As for that "built-in anti-hijacking feature" a lot of good it does when you still hear about S2000's being stolen in Oz.
Thought I'd update this now.

Excess:
Standard: $400
Plus Vehicle: $1000
Age Excess: $350
Wheel Excess: $400
Theft: $1000

I believe wheel excess is claimed differently if only the wheels are stolen.

Therefore, total excess is about $1,750 or $2,150 if the whole car is involved in a smash.
