wow, that excess sucks ass
i only have to pay $400 for my excess. i guess thats where the difference is. i dont like the idea of paying monster excesses when the premiums are all around the same ballpark, say $1500-2k

The thing is blacks2k, the premiums aren't around the same ballpark. All of the quotes that I have been given so far are not much more than what I would pay if I were to pay a premium and make one claim per year i.e the $2005 + $1500 is only about $400 more than what NRMA want before I make a claim. Doing the maths on this I'd have to make more than 1 claim to make it a more attractive option.

Based on my aim to avoid making a claim I'd say that the cheaper premium is more attractive to me than the cheaper excess. If I felt that I was going to make more than one claim per year it'd be a different story.

i knew a guy who was paying $7800 for a s15 nissan 200sx that had a lot of work done to it. but he had a few cars stolen, crashed, etc. he said nobody would insure him and that NRMA did it as a joke and he took it.

12000 is about what NRMA would quote if you had no NCB.

Out of curiousity who are you with now? Or have you decided to self insure?
