I'm 99% sure RedRover is just over 30.

I've previously posted on claims process. AAMI took minor damage, and through corner cutting and incompetence turned it into 6 repairs over 12 months resulting in a complete respray.

Needless to say I am no longer insured with AAMI.

Try Vero (previously known as Royal & Sun Alliance), I insured with them last year when I was 23 for $1500 for Rating 1. I have an alarm but did not need to get one for insurance, it's a piece of mind thing.
Vero are pretty good and give you choice of repairer. I actually got through them from an insurance broker who checked out a few insurance companies. Everyone quoted me at least $3000 except for Vero. I thought maybe their policies might be a bit dodgy for the price but they are really good. They fixed my car recently with no hassles.

BTW Scott - you will find insurance prices quoted in Sydney a lot higher to those posted that live in Melb.

Can't remember what I pay - maybe around $2600??
Living in Western Suburbs of Sydney would raise the price a bit I imagine.

I'm with Torque. I've been happy with their service so far (no claims yet, but when I needed some documentation in a hurry they really helped out.). From my old post late last year:

"Torque quoted about $1,250 - 30yrs old, rating 1, no speeding fines (though that may be subject to change without notice ).

AAMI quoted just over $1,000, but you'd be insured by AAMI...

Allianz declined to insure the vehicle, as did a couple of others. Other quotes I had were in the $2,300+ mark (Swann et al)."

Here's a cut and paste from an online quote that I received from Justcar insurance. I'm not getting another one yet, was just curious what it would cost now that my record is clearing up. i.e I had a smash 3 years ago now which is the period that JCI look at, others such as NRMA look at the last 5 years so I get a quote for around $3000 from them which isn't reasonable IMO.

Oh and another point was that they were backed by AAMI and Ive heard enough horror stories along with Aus' to steer clear where possible. Im still waiting to hear back from shannons but I doubt that they'll be interested in me.

I have been using Just Car for 3 different cars over the last 5 years. 18 months ago when my MX-5 was a write off, I got the cheque for the market value in 2 weeks from the date I made the claim and my experience in dealing with them has been quite good.

Currently I am paying around $1800 Rating 1. Age 26. No traffic offences in past 3 years. Leased. Parked 5 mins from CBD. Quicktrak alarm mandatory however (not sure how this will change my policy if they go under) and excess of $1500.... Which is fairly steep but the closest competitive quote I got was over $3500 which negated the high excess through Just Car. Shannons wouldn't have a bar of me as I used the car for business as well.
