Default Installing a After market steering wheel

Hey guys just wanted your thoughts on installing a momo steering wheel, I realize they are illegal because it wont have an air bag but does anyone know the consequences, would i receive a fine if caught or is it just a defect where i would need to swap it back to oem, also would this then deem the car un road worthy and avoid my insurance

It is in road worthy and as such would void your insurance.

It can be changed quite quickly though.

Obviously for safety it's best to leave the stock wheel, I changed mine because it was essentially a track only car.

Legalities aside why would you want to change out something
that could save your life.
And it's not even that the stock wheel is ugly or anything.
And probably not that quick to change when it is embedded in your chest!
Just my take on it.

I have a plan. It involves a Type V steering wheel machined to fit our steering rod and some alcantara.

There are many exclusion clauses in insurances policies one of which is usualy a "unroadworthyness and unfitness" exclusion clause. However it is worth noting that these clauses place on the insurers the burden of proving that the exclusion applies and that un roadworthyness or unfitness contributed directly to the loss.

I am not a insurance law expert and dont know of any case law in this area but if my insurer was not going to pay out on my policy based on an "unraodworty" clause then I would take them to court and be confident that the law was in my favor. That said I have disclosed all my modifications to my insurance company.
