hmm re the clutch pedal depressing - sounds like a blown clutch cylinder to me - ie. no hydraulc pressure such that even though the pedal is depressed, the clutch is not engaging

Whereas your average Joe may not check this detail the NRMA definitely do when they do an inspection.

Fireballs's case is no different with a JDM motor.
He can take it to the RTA and have the details changed.
I did that with my car and QLD transport would not have a clue if the engine was JDM or not.

Good to know, but I also know that the QLD RTA are very different to NSW. If I remember rightly the inspection requirements in QLD and SA are much closer than those in NSW though.

I did an engine swap in my previous Civic with an overseas motor. In NSW you will require an Engineer's Certificate for this. I tried going through the RTA but they said no straight away, as the B18C1 isn't listed in Australia (only B18C2 and B18C7).

fireball, check this s2k->Evo->M3 thread if you are sure about selling your car

personally I think you should rebuild your engine. Your resale may not be as expected.
My personal impression of the f20c is that it's a great engine with fragile aluminium cylinder wall, valves spring/retainers and rods. I think between the three of us, dhess + you + I, we know this well . These can be easily rectify with sleeves, O ring, better valve springs and forge rods. That's only my personal impression. Some pple may disagree about sleeving these cylinders though.

yes you are right naishou
the shortblock/cylinder is aluminium with a very thin layer of fibre reinforced material. Trust me it's very thiin. Once this layer is scratched the aluminium is even easier to get scratch too.
Some ppl recond that the FRM is good enough to handle a fair a mount of boost reliably. I am not game enough to try though

From my experience in civil applications the fibre reinforcement component of the material would only alter the tension/compression type properties of the material not its hardness i.e scoring is not affected.
