Help a noob drive
I'm currently on my L's and I've been driving manual for quite some time now. Recently I've been driving our new Impreza but the problem is whenever I park in the garage using the clutch to control (as my instructor taught me) I get a weird rubbery smell. Is this normal for a new car or is something wrong with my driving
Thanks

Take off the condom. They're a sexy car but not that sexy.
Seriously, it's probably the clutch. You're always slipping it a bit when manoeuvring. And I'd guess being new to driving you're probably slipping more than most.
In fact it's just the usual heightened senses after thrashing a performance car.

I am on my L's too
My mums 05' Impreza smells like eggish farts. I am being serious. Not only when I drive it either. It certainly isn't rubber. It usually smells this way in the mornings
Smell seems to have gotten better since she had a service

Then practice. If you want to try different clutch & throttle positions to experiment for yourself it's a good idea to practice that in a "pretend" garage in the middle of an empty supermarket parking lot rather than a real garage with real solid brick walls

Nah, it's fine. It is a bit off topic and I can't afford to thrash the car around (insurance is already financial sodomy). I'll have to look into it but this doesn't happen with all the other manual cars I've driven (including a late 1990's Ford Escort with more then 600+k on the rego, instructor's car).
