Actually the first versions he was doing the ran on palm...afterwards he converted to pocket PC as far as I know.
As he is a good friend of mine I had already the opportunity to try the system last year while still in the test phase @ Hockenheimring (Racetrack in Germany)
Works pretty good and with the touch screen it gives you any times from any point on the track.
Also you can save all the "lines" which you took ove rthe track so you actually see which "line" makes you going faster.
He actually was testing it this year with professionnel racedrivers around the Nuerburgring.
