Smile Fitting a spoon ECU to a UK spec S2000

Hi all. I just recieved a spoon ECU for my S2000 and tried installing it.
I was disappointed to find I could not start my car when it was all fitted.
I have since heard that this is due to the immobilizer, and that the Jap spec S2000 does not have an immobilizer tied into the ECU.

Does anyone know if this is true?
And how, if possible can I get the ecu up and running?
