Fatality in Black S2K last night in Melbourne
We lost one of our driving colleagues in Melbourne last night - Black S2K
I'm not sure who the driver was? A news report on Channel 9 just showed the vehicle but the plates were not visible.
Sympathy to the family and friends.

Dan,
Apparently it was in Blackburn - I don't know any other details. It was either late night/early morning.
The car was against a street light pole (driver side) and the driver was trapped for over 30 minutes and died on the scene.

I thought you meant literally the member "BlackS2k" here... At least I am glad it's not him.
Do we know how he died? Single car accident? With another vehicle? Was he at fault?

From the very short visual on the news it 'appeared' as though it was a single car accident, into a pole on the wrong side of the road - hard, very hard. Driver's side first. I assume the car slid across the road making left turn/sweeper mounted the gutter and into the pole about 2 - 3 feet up.
The car was bent around the pole and was only distinguishable by the rear lights and soft top. The vehicle rego was not displayed - hazed out by the news service.

I havent hear the news until now.
Blackburn is 5 minutes away from where I stay...and Ive seen quite a few new S2ks around my area. - including a black one.
Is there an article somewhere that I can read on ?
I remembered there was a MC blue s2k that crashed last year or so on Blackburn rd - near the lights entering eastern freeway

i guess it's this sort of stuff that can really hit home as to how vulnerable we really are on the roads. pushing your car on late night/ early morning streets is a real temptation given the adrenalin of the night passed and little traffic. This reminds me of the time when I was bumrushed by a 200SX on a twisty mountain road late at night. Of course the desire to play provoked me to go harder but I felt quite stupid afterwards.
condolences to family and friends.
