I haven't got any letter from Honda Australia regarding a price increase in the extended warranty. When I bought my car (new in June 2001), I didn't opt for the extended warranty as I figured if I needed it (ie if I got a lemon of an S2K - not the case), then I would get it down the track if I ended up holding onto the car for more than three years.

I have had first hand experience with the Honda warranty on a previous car (96 Honda Integra VTiR) which was appauling at best. At the time I said to myself that I would never buy another Honda... Anyway, I will see how my car goes. At this stage everything seems to be perfect, so I can't see myself getting it.

As an aside AusS2000, I too spent all weekend fiddling with my stereo. I just recently put in an Alpine headset and stacker, and this weekend installed a PPI amp and Focal Utopia splits. The difference in sound is amazing to say the least...

Good isn't it . Mind you, If I blow my new horns you won't hear your stereo. It's seriously loud. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

I contacted my Dealer today (Trivett - Parra) to make a booking for inspection this Wed and also to confirm the price. I was told $800 so I said what did the letter mean which clearly said $750. They said it was a mistake and it was $800.

I then phoned Honda head office, my argument is that Honda have my vehicle registered (I get the recall notices) therefore they made an offer to an "S2000 owner" not just a "Honda owner". They agreed. and this afternoon I got a return call confirming that if I take in my personal letter they would honour the $750.

My guess is, if you have paid more I hope you still have the letter, if not still whinge.

Spoke to my dealer today to take the S2k in for the extended warranty and was told that the offer is extended to end of December!!

According to the dealer Honda didn't want a flood of owners leaving it till the last week in December (i.e. Xmas shutdown week) and instead they stated end November to gee us all up.

I'm booked for Monday to take it in and will take your advice Col if the dealer asks for more than $750.

I held back until now as I have this week joined the ranks of the unemployed and am having to review all expenditure, including whether I continue my vehicle lease or not.

I had my S2 in for it's 50,000 service today and had the extended warranty stuff done at the same time. The Dealer (Scotts Artarmon) asked for the letter when I booked it in and charged me $750 inc GST.

I left them a photocopy of the original to pin to my records just in case of issues later ...

I had my extended warranty check out yesterday - also got them to replace my battery (one cell was dying). No questions asked - $750 please. Hi-ho and Taipan, I don't know why your dealers told you extra.

My dealer showed me a copy of Hondas News Release which stated that they made a error in the letter they sent out to us and that the cost should have been $800. I was really mad so I phoned the customer relations people and had words to them. The letter stated that the price would remain at the current price of $750 until the end of November, if they made a mistake, well, tough. Also it was a bit cowardly to get the poor ol' dealer to tell us when we rocked up to pay. They could have sent us out a correction letter .

I ended up paying $750 but I am still annoyed about it.
