It is actually a normal John Bowes High Performance Training day and so happen the Vic HSCC decided to make it their Sept event (ant HSCC members, correct me if I am wrong here). I had to register with John Bowes for this event. I don't know whether there are any spots left, but contact the yellafellaS2000
for more info. For futher info look at the Vic newsletter at this site: http://www.honda.com.au/SportsCar/splitter.htm

Hey guys, take a stop-watch with you and make sure to time the instructors in your car (when they get into it that is) .... that is one thing that I regret doing when I was there.

I don't know whether I would survive the ordeal, I most probably would have fainted before the run is completed.
You don't have to be in the car and you can time the instructor in someone elses time. Though, I do recomend going for a 'ride' :-)

I had an in-car timer when Terry Bowe was driving mine but he kept on getting blocked by slower traffic (damn, he was very, very quick).
Re: Open face helmets
In some of the organised sprints that I have competed in the entry forms state that drivers of open cars (i.e. convertables) have to have closed full face helmets.

I guess it all boils down to the scrutineer's definition of an "open car". Some of them are tougher than others.
e.g. Ther was a scrutineer for the Nissan/Datsun club at Sandown who I am sure wouldn't have passed it. But he was pretty strict.
Some clubs wouldn't let me pass scrutineering because I've got tinted windows (darkest shade of tint - but it still passes Vicroads regulations).
I'll ask at some of the sprints that I've still to do this year. Does PIARC allow you to compete with open face?
I think that the MX-5 owners that I've seen have all been full face, but I'm not sure.

TMB, I've competed at many events (incl PIARC) with an open face helmet. I've never heard anyone suggest that they were not OK.
I just had a look through the CAMS regulations and couldn't see any reference to tinted glass. The only possible explanation here is that the Nissan/Datsun club have some weird regulations and/or that particular scrutineer was full of ********

It was the a scrutineer from the Austin Healey Sprite Drivers Club who was responsible for scrutineering cars for the Marque Sports Car Association (Alfa, Datsun, Austin-Healey's, Triumph, Lotus, Bolwell, etc).
And yes he was full of it.
