Diff or axle?
#51
Mmm .. I'm really not sure what to do here. The mechanic reckoned he couldn't find any second hand diffs but would still try looking.
I'm kind of uncertain how to go about the whole Mazda/Kia diff situation. Which parts are applicable for the S2000? Will it be cheaper than the OEM method?
I don't really want to blow $3700 and find out later it would've been significantly cheaper to get a Kia diff with a better diff ratio.
Any advice on how to put this all into practice would be great - thanks guys!

Dragon, don't take this as an insult on yourself but sooner or later in life you need to grow up and learn to do things yourself. It seems clear you now have the choice to either pick the phone up and do some of your own leg work instead of relying on people here doing it for you or fork out the dollars.
Hope that helps.

I'm willing to retract it if there's a concesus but I think you miss where I'm coming from, frisky. Aus has answered his question and it is there for him to read still now.
I totally agree with what you're saying about calling on people's experience here but the fact that his questions have been addressed already and he's still asking them over tells me that he's not learning from this.

Guys, understand the difference here. A diff consists of a housing, caps, crown and pinion and center.
It sounds like Dragon's crown and pinion and center have gone.
So his alternatives are a complete secondhand replacement, rebuild with aftermarket c&p and center, or rebuild with OEM parts.
I'd do the former and then assess the old diff. <$1000
The mid one is probably about $2500 but you could choose ratio and center type.
And the latter is $3700.
