Default comp insurace

hi, buying an s2k soon but first i sussed out the insurance levels on a s2k for me.

justcar quoted 2214$ for me on a 2000 s2k

im 20 male and have had no accident claims no suspensions no thefts etc

i was wondering what kind of insurance levels eveyone else is paying and if 2214$ is a reasonable amount?

atm im paying 1700$ for my 05 civic through swan insurance so it doesnt seem that much of an increase

i also heard that after owning one of these cars for a year or two and having no claims, the 2214$ drops a lot, is that true?

anyways any help would be appreciated thankee

hey mate I think there's a similar thread not too long back about insurance, but i'm paying $2375, 19, rating 4 with Just Cars. So i'd say $2214 is a resonable price. Apparently the premium drops by 30% as each year with no claims passes by, this is all subject to accident statistics throughout the year etc.

When I was 25 and the car was new at over $70k, my insurance was around $2700 with Just Cars. Clean driving and claim record.

At just over $2k at your age is more than reasonable going by what some others are paying here. Don't expect a significant drop in insurance on sports cars until you hit 30yo.

well the premium should drop if u are not on the full ncb, i know that as each year goes by on mine, my premium doesnt fall, and im on the full ncb, but i gget older and my car gets cheaper.

atm, im 30, i pay about $1200. try honda insurance aka swann and see what they say

I am on my second s2k which should arrive in a few weeks (transported from Syd to Perth). My first one which was also an '01 which was worth around 55k (2003) the first time I bought it I was quoted anywhere from $3,000-4k by most companies as I was then 19. My 'new' 01 - I am with Just cars, 22, Rating 1, premium is $1,580 and I use it for business. But with this premium comes higher excesses.

first year was $1800
now second year dropped down to $1200.
was quite a surprise how much my premium dropped in one year, though im not complaining!

Location is important too. Sydney is notably more expensive than Melb for example.

Another thing is that the premium is not the only consideration. What about the excess, driver limits etc.
