Suggest you go and see Race Brakes, 44-68 Racecourse Road, North Melbourne. (03) 9326 6088 - Ask for Howard Reynolds.

I second that. I had a 'heavy duty', custom cluth in my S2000. I had it put in at around 20,000km as the OME one was alredy 60% worn. The clutch I had I would not recommend to anyone as it was just too strong for the car. It was a custom, 6-button clutch and had absolutelly no give/slip. It either was disangaged, or fully engaged. It had so much grip that you would do a comression lock-up everytime you did not rev-match well enough. Took me about 4 weeks to learn how to get it off the line without stalling, or spinning the tyres.

If I had to get another one, then I'd go to 'Race Brakes' and gt them to make me up something that is a lot 'softer' than what I had, but still stronger thasn OME.

Yep, you're right ... it ws a 'brass button' job ... strong as hell. The clutch cost me $450 and they rebuilt in on the existing OME cluth ... so I guess it was a 'recondition' job.

Still, I would not recomend it for the S2000 at all.

You can get them to do anything you want ... I asked for the 6-button clutch as I though that is what I needed.

The people who did my clutch are called 'Shelby Racing' ... they are located in Melbourne and make a lot custom clutches for the Ferrari people. Also I've heard of them making a few for the NSX people. The 6-button clutch cost me $450 .... I gave them my old clutch and $450, and one week later I had the 6-button one. They did not do the fitting for me as I had that done at Honda.

Still, I would recommend 'Race Brakes' as I use them for my brakes (as do a lot of the people here) and they do make up custom cutches as well. I had a good chat to then when I had the 6-button clutch in the car and they said that they can make me one up that will drive very nicely, but still offer a lot of 'bite'. I was going to use them when I got tyred of the 6-button one. They did not give me an exact quoute, but were talking around $500 for the clutch. The removal/fitting would have been $300 - $400 (from what I can remember) according to them, and they'd want the car for most of the week. You're better of calling them and speaking to them, yourself ... ask for Howard and if you mention me to them, then they'll probably remember the discussion I had with them about the clutch.

The contact details were provided by Red Rover above. ie:

No worries!
If you want a budget upgrade, go with extreme kit with lightened flywheel, upgraded pp combo. If money is of no object give the OS Giken a go. I've heard a lot of good things about them from other car with pull clutch style. I know someone on this board with them but yet to ask for his opinion.

Here is a picture of mine. Thanks to JackHammer.
(Note for self, Jackhammer still own me a tax invoice. Jackhammer, take your times mate. I know you are busy but if I get into trouble with the taxman I will hunt you down buddy )

This clutch wears too quick IMHO
It's 1/3 worn for 10k km and overheated/slipped once at the drag
It has been rebuilt by extremeclutch but yet to go back

I'll give it 7-8/10.
My engineer obviously did not like it either, hence the holes
