I'm also looking at getting my clutch and flywheel done.

Just ordered an Exedy Heavy Duty one, HCK-7201HD.

Ordered the flywheel from america, ACT ProLite Lightened.

i was originally looking at fidanza but after reading a lot, i decided against aluminium. I heard its more prone to failing (which is terrible at 9000 rpm) since its made of different metals due to the expansion rate of aluminium and the bolts/rivits coming off - though i heard using locktite can help prevent this but i didnt want to take the risk.

I'm also looking at places to get mine done. Checked out JetSpeed, Chasers, some place in Box Hill and CRS. CRS is too expensive for me but they seem like they really know their stuff.
I would not go OEM

should go a bit stronger even if its only 20 or 30%. There are stacks of options ( not that I can decide yet!)

If you do any power upgrades, OEM strength wont handle it.

What was the cost and postage cost if you dont mind me askin?

I rang Northern brakes and clutches...

$950 Exedy HD

$750 Exedy OEM

Install $550

Will go pass race brakes in Nth Melb after work to get a price.

Read in a few forums... Exedy Heavy Duty HCK-7201HD doesnt last that long.

My OEM has done 65K

That install quote is really good. I'd be tempted.

I'm guessing they haven't done one before.

I stand corrected. $1500 for an Exedy HD clutch job is pretty good.

Hey mate,

The flywheel was 350+30USD (so AU$450) shipping from the states for the ACT one so pretty cheap for a decent flywheel.

Decided not to go with the ACT HDSS clutch because i'm afraid i'm already sacrificing enough drivability and i've read that the ACT one is pretty hard with not as much feel.

Haven't heard about the Exedy Heavy Duty not lasting long?

At the moment i'm waiting for my flywheel to come in, should be picking up my clutch within a day or two though. After i get my flywheel i'm going to book it in with jetspeed i think - they quoted 450-500 for installation. Northern Brake and Clutch never got back to me when i called them for a quote

Cheers.

This could be a case of confusion with the Exedy Hyper Single. Many users have reported that it lasted less than 5000Km. Infact the one I bought was used by a guy who got 2500km out of it before wearing it out.

I bought it, had it rebuilt and have been using it for about 10,000km so far. I don't do a lot of stop/start traffic driving however. And it's possible the pads used for the rebuild are not the same material in the original.
