Clutch Hydraulic System Discussion
Background:
The cars a MY00 with 115Kkm and has been fitted with a HD clutch (Xtreme Clutch from Adelaide Clutch Services) for the past 45Kkm.
Took the car for a trip over the weekend and on the return route found the clutch a bit rough in the lower part of it's travel. Dad took the car to work on tuesday and on the way home found it unable to select gears, and the pedal had lost it's weight.
Problem:
Both the Master and Slave cylinders are weeping fluid. It would seem like the failures/leaks have arisen/escalated recently as the fluid leaked over a relatively short period.
Question:
Is it possible that the cylinders aren't able to cope (well?) with the extra effort required by the heavier PP causing accelerated wear?
The problem doesn't bother me but was just something that i'm curious about as i've never really heard of people having problems with a cars clutch hydraulic system due to an uprated clutch, however it kind of makes some sense the greater effort will wear out the hydraulic parts quicker.
I haven't looked over the site for any similar stories but my search querying skills leave much to be desired. If you guys have heard of anything about this or want to speculate I would like to hear it.
