Default Carbon Fibre Bonnets.. Whats your thoughts?

Carbon Fibre Bonnet or new Wheels?

ok so what do you guys think about carbon fibre bonnets? are they for show or do you feel they justify the remarkable prices?

After the car comes out of the shop i was thinking about getting either the bonnet or the wheels... both depending on my end of year holiday plans but i just wanted to know what you guys thought..

Oh and which brand of Bonnets and which brand of wheels do you guys have and preffer?

CF bonnets can have three things: weight, looks, and venting.

Most of the cheap CF bonnets are fibreglass coated in CF and are as heavy if not heavier than the stock Al bonnet.

Looks are subjective. If you like the CF weave that is a plus. Also, if you like the vented look you have several options.

Vents are not really necessary for an NA car. If you have non shielded headers or suffer from heat soak if might be advantageous.

I've gone for a J's style hood. It isn't light and it will be painted so no CF look, but it should aid airflow through my intercooler.

CF hoods arent that expensive if you try to pick them up second hand. There were a few floating around for pretty reasonable prices, its just a matter of looking through the archives.

Id get wheels and if i was to get another cf hood, id get the mugen one.

Hotchoc: As Aus said, the three things about CF hoods

1) Weight: If you're after weight reduction it would be much more cost effective to rip out the air-conditioning and the stereo.

2) Venting: A cold air intake would be better value

3) Looks: What looks great to one person looks crap to another so you have to make your own decision on looks.

If you're buying wheels be sure to get the right offset and a set that maintains the width difference between front & rear. The most important thing about wheels is the weight. Be sure to get a set that is lighter than the standard Honda ones and remember, bigger is not necessarily better .....

Otherwise, you might meet a bigger rock
