if you are from different banks it could take upto 48hrs for the fund to appear in your account, so thats not full proof either . Bank Cheque or cash .

I recall years ago buying my first CRX , and the owner was too afraid to accept cash for it ! and made us buy them a bank cheque ! they were afraid we would come back to rob them !

on the other end of the scale, my parents bought a car off so other asian's and it cash preferred ! ahahaha

With 13 car purchases over the last 40 years, I have always found sellers - both private or dealer - accepted a bank cheque.
Most recently it was the Holden dealer. He also took a copy of my driver's licence.

The fact is you don't get the same security as you used to with bank cheques. Fraud has dictated banks not clearing them immediately like they used to. The only way of transferring money from one bank to another without the use of cash is to use a inter bank transfer slip which you will only get if you know your bank manager VERY well.
