My psychic diagnosis is something in the air pump wiring that run to the left hand front under the bumper skin.

In fact my crystal ball is now showing a HD picture of a missing air pump relay.

My lucky rabbit's foot is indicating that the dilithium crystals sensor is reading under 3.2 parsecs.

how is the engine going? If there was a real problem it would be flashing on and off. If this happens stop the car immediately.

If it is a solid lit CEL it must be some sort of sensor that is damaged. Could be the primary or secondary O2 sensor, or if they took out the engine during the repairs and took out the engine without removing the Throttle position sensor harness/connector on the engine block it could have been damaged. Check the connector, its easy to find - looking directly at the engine from the front of the car it is on the top left off the red rocker cover. Its a plastic fitting with a clip on thing. Could even be as simple as a connection that has not been connected up properly or at all - check for loose leads and double check each connection.

The only way to know is to take it to honda and get the CEL checked out. You will have to pay the initial money to get it diagnosed at honda but afterwards the insurance company will refund you the monies.

Also just as a precaution, check your oil and make sure it is at the right level. If they filled up oil again, did they use the right one?

You're not seriously suggesting that using the incorrect oil can cause a CEL are you?

There is no point in guessing at what the problem is. If you don't know how to read and interpret the CEL yourself, take it to Honda. It doesn't matter if the CEL is solid or blinking IMO, it indicates a problem that may need immediate attention and should not be driven anywhere except the Honda garage.

Stevharr - lol no, i should have been more clear. I was just saying to check it anyway as a precaution....again not sure if they swapped the oil or not but good to check, i dont trust anyone with my car. After each service i check the oil. A mate of mine who was a mechanic said on occasions cuz they are really busy they forget to put oil back into the engine and might start it up then realise... Would be nothing worse then only having a half fill of oil and damaging the engine, we all know how reliant these machines are with their oil. I doubt a normal panel shop which isn't a honda dealership will put honda s2000 oil into the car, they will probably get the cheapest stuff they can find and whack it in.

Agree though, no point guessing the car needs to be checked but i dont think it will be anything too serious, but you dont want to be driving around on it until you know what it is.

Neither do I, which is why I do everything myself if I can.

btw, the repair guy said something about the knocking sensor may have caused the engine light to come on
best to get the facts from Honda or a trusted mechanic . As you can already see all the opinions coming forward here might be abit confusing .

I know a very good mechanic in the Smithfield area that can look at your car right away if your interested. And wont even charge you for the inspection.

Shame that your car hasn't come out as it should.

I second Vueys opinion - That mechanic is very good and knows what he is talking about - trusted amongst the Honda community.

Thanks guys for all the input.

Currently I got my car to the local mechanic to see if they can diagnose the cause, if not I will take it to the Honda dealer.

Vuey you are talking about Hannys right?? I get my car serviced there pretty often, its just a bit far for me at the moment with the engine light on as I try to drive as little as possible.

If all your fluids are in check, i got my fingers crossed its something minor. Hopefully just a reset to clear it up.
