Are the correct S2000 OEM S02 tyres available from Bridgestone Australia (particularly the rears)?
I bought some from Bridgestone Artarmon for $275 each (rears) about three weeks ago.

Nobody fitted 245 rears? Are they actually available in Oz to suit the S2K. Don't see it as a freely avilable size in the brands I checked (online).

Cheers
Al.

Here are the tyre specs for the S2000:

http://www.bridgestone.com.au/tyres/produc...icleResults.asp

You have selected: HONDA S2000
FRONT
Width 205
Aspect Ratio 55
Rim Diameter 16"
Speed Rating W
Load Rating 89

You have selected: HONDA S2000
REAR
Width 225
Aspect Ratio 50
Rim Diameter 16"
Speed Rating W
Load Rating 92

Recommendation: OE S02's or S03's.

Last time I checked, you can get a set of Rear OE S02's from Bob Jane T-Marts for about $260 each fitted and balanced.

My local Bridgestone is going to call me back, I had him searching for 245/45 rear S03s.

I'm seriously considering getting 17" wheels just so I can get some better tyre options.

OK -he checked and can confirm that size is not offered in Aus.

Maybe we should petition Bridgestone to offer this size for sale in Australia, or at least an s2000 specific size S-03 (like the S-02 is).

Wouldn't putting wider tyers on the back make the car understeer more?

A 245/45/16 is wider in the sense of it's designation, but not much different to the OEM S02 rear in actual contact width. Read the thread on Tire Rack forum posted above.

Any run of the mill 225/50/16 is claimed to be narrower than the OEM S02 Rear, and hence also claimed to adversely affect handling.

Doesn't anyone have a take on the 245/45/16 deal? What brands/models are available in OZ in this fitment?
(edit: Beaurepaires claim to list a Dunlop SP9000 in 245/45/16 for $420 F&B. Nothing listed from Goodyear though)

Cheers,
Al

lukep6470, S2000s do not understeer. The first inclination of an S2000 is to oversteer.

I know that there have been a few people make statements about "understeer" and I suspect they are describing something that does not meet the commonly accepted definition of Understeer.

Perhaps the most helpful thing we could do to clear this up would be to find a couple of very clear definitions of what the terms 'Understeer' and 'Oversteer' really mean.
