Default Bridgestone Tyres

I rang my local Bridgestone dealership enquiring about some new S-03's for my car in the 205/55R16 and 245/45R16 sizes.
According to the guy I spoke to there is no listing for the 245/45R16.

When asked about the s2000 OEM S02's he said the S02's had been superseeded by the S03 and they were probably fully imported and if thats the case you wouldn't be able to get them unless somebody had them in stock.

Does anybody here run 245/45R16 S03s ? If so where did you get them?

Matt have you tried a few other dealerships? I suggest that you try the Narellan b'stone dealer they're good guys to deal with and cheap.

Putting 245/45/16s on the rear is a myth !!

Stick to 225/50/16 - there are plenty of these SO3s around.

Hi,

I put some falken tyres on my rear end about a month ago now and before that i enquired about the S02's..
From memory matthews in Chatswood had a set of 50's (2)... not sure about the 45's or if the 50's are still available..

My dealer told me a similar thing 6 motnhs ago but I then went to Bob Jane and got them without any problems.

I don't understand how the SO3 supersedes the SO2 as they are a far cheaper tyre and a harder compound. I'd be happy for somebody to enlighten me though.

Muz I think majority of the reduction in price is due to a new manufacturing process which supposedly saves them quite a bit. From what I gather the compound is harder, this could be for a few reasons like market pressures or manufacturing requirements however the S-03 PPl ranks highly and is still a first tier tyre. One advantage the S-03 does offer is that it's tread design is better at evacuating water, most likely as a result of bigger channels which would amplify the loss of grip compared to the S-02.

Slightly OT: I saw an s2000 with 225s all around. The walls on the front tires looked bent inwards... very weird.

I wonder what that did to the handling, any comments RedRover?

Hi,

Just been wading thru the Massive Non-OEM Tyre Size thread. Not sure how the 245/45/16 can be a myth.

1. Are the correct S2000 OEM S02 tyres available from Bridgestone Australia (particularly the rears)?

2. What options exist for 245/45/16 in Australia. Doesn't seem to be listed as an available fitment for the S03's on Bridgestones website.

Cheers,
Al

Thanks for that. I think I'm going to go for the SO2's again (if I can get them next time round). It doesn't rain much here these days and I do like 'the grip'. For that reason I'm reluctant to go to a harder compound.
