Just read Motor mag and they say that the S03 is replacing the S02, so we will probably all be on them soon!
Mind you I've heard about Motor's reporting capabilities, so maybe not.

Unlikely as all the the S2000 still wears the S02s from the factory. While that is the case, they have to supply the tyre.

The S2000 OEM tyre is an S02 in name only and is called that only because at the time of the S2000 release the S02 designated Bridgestone's premium performance tyre.
The S03 is a replacement for the generic S02 PP.

I'm really confused about this. My dealer claims there is no such thing as an OEM SO2. Argghh!!!
I was quoted $950 for SO3's (Fitted).
They tell me that the SO2's are superceded by SO3's (which have a slightly different tread pattern).
If SO3's have less grip than SO2's then I'm not interested. I don't care about wear or wet weather.
I'm close to ringing Bridgestone and asking them.

They've got a 'very' different thread design. Though Muz, I'm very interested what Bridgestone have to say ... why not call Honda as well and see what they have to say as well? As it is they 'have' to supply the OME S02s for the S2000 as that is the tyre that the core is still being sold with.

Muz, I suggest you go back to your dealer and ask him to quote on "W-rated S02'S". You can agree with him that the Z-rated S02's are being replaced by S03's (which I presume will also be Z-rated) but that's not what you want - You want the W-rated ones!

Ok. I just rang Bridgestone for some advice.
The SO3's have a harder base compound in the center of the tyre. They wear better, and provide better wet weather grip. (Stuff we all knew already) They are almost half the price as shown in my previous post.
SO2's provide better dry weather grip and wear quicker. (don't we know it)
SO2 (N3)prices:
Front: $416 ea
Rear: $440 ea
Apparently Bridgestone warehouse has enough stock of SO2's to last several months. There are at least 170 sets in NSW alone.
My personal preference is for SO2's and I will be demanding them when time comes for new rubber.
I'm not confident in taking either my dealers or their tyre shop's advice. Anybody can read a catalogue.
I'm not sure on this 'N3' business but assume the Bridgestone guy looked it up.
