Hmm...I don't know 100% about that being true, I'm pretty sure my bumper supports are not shaved and my AP2 bar is fine.
The other thing is that the bottom of the AP2 sticks out further than the AP1 bar so you need to make some brackets to screw the bottom of the AP2 bar to the front splashguards
